The Saree Walkathon, held on 8th March 2025 at Mandore Gardens, Jodhpur from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, was a vibrant celebration of India’s textile heritage and a strong movement for gender equality and social justice. Convened by Shashi Bhandari with co-convener Shubrata Singhvi, the event saw the enthusiastic participation of 58 members. Organized on the occasion of International Women’s Day, it brought together people from diverse backgrounds to walk in solidarity for women’s empowerment. The evening was enriched with cultural performances, including traditional Rajasthani dances and folk songs, reflecting the state’s artistic richness. A respected police officer delivered an inspiring speech, underlining the importance of gender equality and women’s safety. Exquisite displays of Rajasthan’s handloom sarees and jewelry promoted local craftsmanship, while the funds raised will support women-driven Pink Rickshaws in Jodhpur, fostering financial independence for women. Participants, draped in elegant sarees, walked with pride and determination, beautifully blending tradition with a powerful social message, making the event both memorable and impactful.
